Copycat Cracker Barrel Chopped Steak (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Steaks

01 - 2 lb ground beef, 80/20
02 - 2 eggs, beaten
03 - 1/3 cup plain breadcrumbs
04 - 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
05 - 2 teaspoons granulated garlic powder
06 - 1 1/2 teaspoons onion powder
07 - 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
08 - 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
09 - 3 tablespoons avocado oil

→ Assembly

10 - 2 large white onions, cut into large slices
11 - 3 tablespoons butter
12 - 3 tablespoons flour
13 - 3 cups beef stock
14 - 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
15 - 1 tub instant mashed potatoes, heated according to directions on package

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat a cast-iron pan over medium heat for 3 to 4 minutes and an oven to 175°C (350°F).
02 - In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, eggs, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, seasoned salt, and black pepper until thoroughly mixed.
03 - Divide the mixture into four portions and shape each into 1.5-inch thick oval patties.
04 - Add avocado oil to the cast-iron pan and cook two patties at a time for 3 to 4 minutes on each side. Remove par-cooked steaks to a tray and repeat with remaining patties.
05 - Add onions to the steak pan and cook for 4 to 6 minutes or until softened.
06 - Add butter and flour to the pan with onions, then pour in beef stock and mix. Season with black pepper and remove from heat.
07 - Nestle the steaks over the onions in the pan, then bake in the oven for 20 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 65°C (150°F).
08 - Remove steaks and serve with onions and jus over prepared mashed potatoes.
