Red Velvet Chocolate Valentine Treats (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Cookie Base

01 - 1 2/3 cups (210g) regular flour
02 - 1/4 cup (21g) plain unsweetened cocoa powder
03 - 1 teaspoon baking soda
04 - 1/4 teaspoon salt
05 - 1/2 cup (113g) softened unsalted butter
06 - 3/4 cup (150g) light brown sugar, packed
07 - 1/4 cup (50g) white sugar
08 - 1 large egg at room temp
09 - 1 tablespoon regular milk or buttermilk
10 - 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
11 - 3/4 teaspoon red gel food coloring

→ Decoration

12 - 8 ounces (226g) white chocolate, roughly chopped
13 - 2-3 tablespoons colorful sprinkles

# Instructions:

01 - Stir together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt in a bowl.
02 - Whip the butter with both sugars until fluffy. Drop in egg and vanilla, then blend everything together.
03 - Add your dry mix along with milk and food coloring, stirring until everything's mixed. Pop the dough in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
04 - Form each cookie using about 1.5 tablespoons of dough. Put them in a 350°F oven for 11-13 minutes until the sides are firm.
05 - Heat white chocolate in short 15-second bursts. Take your cooled cookies and dip half of each one, then top with sprinkles.
06 - Leave cookies out or stick them in the fridge until the chocolate hardens before you eat them.

# Notes:

01 - You can't skip chilling the dough
02 - Go for actual white chocolate bars instead of baking chips
03 - Try using beet powder if you want natural coloring
04 - They'll stay good for 3 days outside the fridge
