Mexican Picadillo Dish (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 pound ground beef.
02 - 1 medium yellow onion, diced.
03 - 8 ounces small yellow potatoes (3-4), cut into cubes.
04 - 1 jalapeno, finely chopped.
05 - 1 serrano, finely chopped (optional).
06 - 2 cloves of garlic, minced.
07 - 2 big tomatoes, chopped.
08 - 3/4 cup of beef broth.
09 - 1 tablespoon of paprika.
10 - 1 teaspoon of cumin.
11 - 1 tablespoon of Mexican oregano.
12 - Salt and pepper, adjust to your liking.
13 - 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
14 - To serve: Cooked rice, soft tortillas, sliced peppers, hot sauce, lime juice, spicy chili flakes.

# Instructions:

01 - Add oil to a big pan and warm it on medium heat. Toss in the diced potatoes, onion, and peppers. Let them cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally to soften them up.
02 - Drop in the minced garlic and the ground beef. Use a wooden spoon to break apart the meat while it cooks. Let it brown for 5 minutes, no need to fully cook it just yet.
03 - Mix in the chopped tomatoes, beef broth, and your chosen spices. Lower the heat so it gently simmers.
04 - Let it gently bubble for 20 minutes, enough time to soften up the potatoes and cook everything together.
05 - Spoon it over rice or pair it with warm tortillas. Sprinkle on sliced peppers or chili flakes, squeeze over fresh lime juice, and splash on some hot sauce if you like a kick!

# Notes:

01 - Feel free to swap in ground chicken, turkey, or pork.
02 - Spicy level is medium, but you can tweak it.
03 - Add classics like raisins, almonds, carrots, or olives.
