Irish Whiskey Glazed Burger (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Burgers

01 - 2 cups ground beef, ideally 80/20 lean to fat ratio
02 - 1 tsp sea salt, fine
03 - 0.5 tsp black pepper, freshly ground

→ Glaze

04 - 0.5 cup Irish whiskey
05 - 0.25 cup brown sugar, packed
06 - 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
07 - 1 tbsp Dijon mustard

→ Assembly

08 - 4 brioche buns, lightly toasted
09 - 8 slices sharp cheddar cheese
10 - 1 cup mixed greens, washed and dried
11 - 1 large tomato, sliced

# Instructions:

01 - In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the Irish whiskey, brown sugar, balsamic vinegar, and Dijon mustard. Stir until the sugar dissolves and the mixture thickens slightly, about 5-7 minutes. Set aside to cool.
02 - In a large bowl, mix the ground beef with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty about 3/4-inch thick.
03 - Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Grill the patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your preferred doneness. In the last few minutes of cooking, baste the patties with the whiskey glaze and place two slices of sharp cheddar cheese on each patty, allowing it to melt.
04 - Place the mixed greens on the bottom half of each brioche bun, followed by the glazed and cheesed burger patty. Top with a slice of tomato and the top half of the bun.

# Notes:

01 - For added flavor, consider adding caramelized onions or crispy bacon to your burger. To adapt this recipe for vegetarians, substitute the beef patties with a plant-based alternative.
