Easy Royal Icing (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 3 Tablespoons of meringue powder.
02 - 4 cups (480g) powdered sugar, sifted thoroughly.
03 - 9-10 Tablespoons of water, keep it at room temp.
04 - Optional: food coloring (gel-based).

# Instructions:

01 - In a big mixing bowl, toss in powdered sugar, meringue powder, and 9 tablespoons of water.
02 - On high speed, use a hand mixer or a stand mixer with the whisk to combine the icing. Mix for 1.5 to 2 minutes. Lift the whisk—if the icing drips and smooths out within 5-10 seconds, it’s ready.
03 - Need it thinner? Add more water, one tablespoon at a time, and mix. Too runny? Sift in extra powdered sugar or keep mixing to add air.
04 - Spread onto cookies. When thinly applied, it’ll harden fully in about 2 hours if left at room temperature.

# Notes:

01 - Keep a damp paper towel over the bowl to stop it from drying out.
02 - Mix in 1/2 teaspoon of an extract you like for an extra pop of flavor.
03 - If in a rush, pop decorated cookies in the fridge to speed up drying.
