Coconut Chewies Brown Sugar Bars (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - ½ cup butter
02 - 2 cups brown sugar
03 - 2 eggs
04 - 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
05 - 1 ½ cups flour
06 - 1 teaspoon baking powder
07 - 1 teaspoon salt
08 - 1 ½ cups shredded sweetened coconut

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease an 8x8 baking dish.
02 - Add butter to a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Once butter begins to boil, continuously swirl pan to prevent burning. Continue until butter darkens to an amber color, then remove from heat.
03 - Add the brown sugar to the warm butter and stir until fully integrated. Mix in the eggs and vanilla extract.
04 - Add the flour, baking powder, and salt to the wet ingredients. Stir until combined.
05 - Fold the shredded sweetened coconut into the batter.
06 - Transfer the batter to the prepared baking dish. Bake for 40-45 minutes, covering with foil for the last 10 minutes. Let bars fully cool before slicing.
